Holidays to Rio de Janeiro

Introduction

There really is no other place in the world quite like Rio de Janeiro. This vibrant Brazilian city seduces the senses with its stunning natural setting, colourful culture, enticing food, and fun-loving residents. This is the home of samba, the world-famous Carnaval, Copacabana Beach, and unique and flavourful culinary concoctions. Rio is a city that everyone should visit at least once in their life.

What to see and do on a Holiday to Rio de Janeiro

Much of the action during the day in Rio de Janeiro takes place on the gorgeous beaches that front the city. Visit the famous Copacabana Beach or Ipanema Beach to bronze yourself on the sands, surf on the waves, or simply watch the parade of beach goers go by.
You will find plenty of facilities on the beaches here, including chairs and parasols for hire, showers and pay toilets, and snacks and cold drinks for sale.

Christ the Redeemer, Rio De Janeiro

Travellers on a holiday to Rio de Janeiro should not miss out on a trip to one of the mountains that looms over the city for absolutely stupendous views. Take a funicular train to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue at the top of Corcovado mountain and gaze out at the sprawling city and beaches below. For energetic types, start at Parque Lage and hike through the dense forests on the mountain, passing the occasional waterfall on the way up to the top. The Sugarloaf mountains are also great places for hiking and incredible views.

If you truly want to experience Brazilian culture, you must sample some of the local cuisine and nightlife here. Indulge in local dishes such as feijoada, a hearty stew made with savoury meat and black beans, dine at a churrascaria, where you can feast on barbecued meats such as tender pork and beef, or stop at a street vendor for a sugary sweet pastry or refreshing tropical fruit juice. After the sun goes down, head to a local dance hall where you can listen to amazing samba bands, enjoy tasty Caipirinhas, and dance the night away.
