Holidays to Taba

Introduction

Once just a small border crossing town between Egypt and Israel, Taba is slowly growing into an idyllic holiday destination for its warm sunny weather, excellent diving, and interesting natural and historical sights. Not yet discovered by the masses of tourists who descend on the Red Sea coast each year, Taba is one of Egypt’s best kept secrets, and an ideal spot to have a wealth of unspoilt coastlines and natural wonders all to yourself.

What to see and do on a Holiday to Taba

Taba is adored by snorkellers and divers who come to see the incredible underwater sights in the clear, warm waters here. Just off the coast, there is a shallow reef where snorkellers can catch glimpses of bright walls of coral, lion fish,Taba Holidays
eels, parrot fish, and the occasional turtle or octopus. The Fjord is another sweet spot for divers and snorkellers for its protected bay packed with coral gardens and colourful fish.

On dry land, travellers on a holiday to Taba can see some of Egypt’s most beautiful natural sights. Visit the Colour Canyon to see towering walls of sandstone with undulating stripes of white, purple, red and gold, that were tinted by natural elements found in the cliffs. Ein Khudra is an oasis in the middle of the desert, where you can see freshwater lakes flanked by lush groves of pine trees. To the southwest of Taba, you will find the Taba Protected Area, with its mountains, valleys, caves, unique wildlife, and thermal springs.

Seeing as how Taba is part of Egypt, and Israel is just a stone’s throw away, it should come as no surprise that there are many historical sights close by as well. Take a boat trip to Pharaoh’s Island to see the well-preserved 12th century citadel of Saladin with it’s impressive views over the Red Sea. St. Catherine’s Monastery makes for an interesting day trip, as it was built in the 6th century AD, and houses ancient manuscripts and religious icons.
