What to see and do on a Holiday to the Italian Dolomites

If your idea of the perfect holiday includes plenty of fresh air and exercise, the Italian Dolomites are where you want to be. During the winter, there are many ski resorts that offer scenic trails for skiers and snowboarders of all levels, frozen lakes for ice skating, and snow covered trails for cross-country skiing. In the summer months, people from around the world come here for superlative hiking and trekking as well as rock climbing, paragliding, and hang gliding.

Italian Dolomites Holidays

During the First World War, Italian and Austrian soldiers carved long trails through the mountains, which included tunnels, galleries, and footpaths. They also constructed many via ferratas, which were iron rungs and safety cables running up the side of sheer rock faces. Visitors on a holiday to the Italian Dolomites can follow in the footsteps of soldiers past on these trails, and visit the interesting open-air museums dedicated to the war here.

One of the most spectacular sights in the Italian Dolomites is the view from the top of Mount Marmolada, the highest peak in the Dolomites mountain range. The peak can be reached easily via a cable car that offers stupendous views all the way up. Seasoned hikers and rock climbers can also make the challenging trek from the base to the peak, skirting the picturesque Marmolada Glacier along the way.
