Holidays to Casablanca

Introduction

Casablanca is the largest city in Morocco, and a dynamic mix of colonial architecture, impressive mosques, contemporary art galleries, and rugged coastlines. While many people may simply pass through on their way to other destinations in Morocco, those who stay will find interesting sights and a very progressive and cosmopolitan vibe.

What to see and do on a Holiday to Casablanca

The main attraction in Casablanca is the Hassan II Mosque. This is the largest mosque in the country, and the third largest in the world. You cannot miss the stunning structure, as the minaret soars 210 metres in the air, making it the tallest minaret in the world. The mosque sits on a rocky outcropping over the Atlantic Ocean, and features a section of the floor over the water made out of glass. Visitors can head inside to marvel at the marble walls, beautiful tiles, and retractable roof.

Casablanca Holidays

Visitors on a holiday to Casablanca can spend a day strolling the streets of the city to get a feel for the history and culture here. Start with a trip to the Old Medina to shop for leather goods, pottery and souvenirs, stroll through the Parc de la Ligue Arabe to gaze up at the impressive Mauresque architecture of the Casablanca Cathedral, or stop for a break at a traditional hammam, a Turkish bath where you can get a good scrub down and a soothing massage.

As the biggest city in Morocco, Casablanca offers a wide variety of eating establishments and nightlife venues. It is easy to find tasty Moroccan dishes here, such as tajine, a hearty meat stew slow cooked in a clay pot, roasted lamb, healthy salads, tasty seafood dishes, and aromatic teas. For those missing a taste of home, many restaurants also serve European and North American fare, beer, and fine wines. If you are looking to do some drinking and dancing after dark, there are a number of trendy bars and nightclubs in the city centre.
