What to do in Sinaia

One of the main reasons people visit Sinaia is for the invigorating outdoor activities available in and around the mountain resort. Sinaia boasts 20 ski slopes of varying degrees of difficulty, making this an exciting winter destination for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. The Bucegi Natural Park is a protected area close to Sinaia that features sign-posted hiking trails that make their way through forests and past interesting rock formations, caves, canyons, and waterfalls. This is also a popular spot for mountain biking in the warmer months.

The beauty of Sinaia was not lost on Romania’s first king, which is why he chose to build his summer residence here. The palatial 19th century structure, Peles Castle (pictured right), still stands today and is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved castles in all of Europe. Here visitors can stroll through the 160 rooms to see ornate wood, stone, and marble features, crystal chandeliers, silver and gold plates, intricate paintings, elegant sculptures, and historical weapons. On the same grounds is the smaller, Art Nouveau style Pelisor Castle.

Travellers on a holiday to Sinaia will find dining options to suit every taste in this mountain resort. Here you can find coffee shops, family restaurants, sophisticated fine dining establishments, and pubs serving European comfort food. The Palace Hotel is a great place for a romantic dinner, as the food and service here are excellent. For a more casual dining experience, La Brace gets rave reviews for its delicious pizzas. There are also plenty of nightlife venues including the Casino Maxim, where you can test your luck at the game tables, or Club Famous, which features DJs playing lively dance music and a spacious dance floor.
