Holidays to Maspalomas

Introduction

Beach lovers cannot help but get excited just thinking about Maspalomas on the island of Gran Canaria. Here there are over 6 kilometres of sugary sands spilling into the shallow waters of the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the famous Maspalomas sand dunes. As if that was not enough, Maspalomas is also home to a wide range of exciting attractions and superlative dining and nightlife options. With so much to draw people here, it should come as no surprise that Maspalomas is one of the most popular holiday destinations on Gran Canaria.

What to see and do on a Holiday to Maspalomas

The main attraction in Maspalomas, and on the entire island of Gran Canaria, is the Natural Reserve of the Dunes of Maspalomas (pictured). This protected area of rolling sand dunes with its rare plants and animals spans across 400 hectares. Visitors can explore the trails that run through this unique landscape on foot or by camel, and there are many small stalls that serve refreshing drinks and snacks along the trails.

Sand Dunes of Maspalomas in Gran Canaria

The warm and sunny climate here means that travellers on a holiday to Maspalomas can enjoy the beautiful beaches year round. The wide sandy bays and shallow waters are perfect for working on a tan on the sands, playing some beach Frisbee or volleyball, or going for a refreshing dip in the ocean. Snorkelling, sailing, and scuba diving are also popular water sports in Maspalomas.

For those who tire of the beach, there are many things to do in Maspalomas that do not involve sand. This is home to the biggest and most scenic golf course on Gran Canaria. The 18-hole course lies directly behind the sand dunes, and it offers stunning views over the dunes and out to the sparkling blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. In addition, there are water parks and animal theme parks for children, as well as plenty pleasant parks, and stylish restaurants and bars scattered throughout the resort.
