Ski Holidays to Switzerland

Introduction

Skiers and snowboarders in the know head to Switzerland for the world famous pistes here, the incredible views, and the charming towns and villages that rest at the base of the slopes. However, not all ski resorts in Switzerland are the same. The resort you choose depends entirely on whether you want a low-key holiday in a quaint village, an exciting mountain getaway with plenty of socialising, or the opportunity to take day trips to stunning natural wonders close by.

What to see and do on a Holiday to Switzerland Ski Resorts

The Swiss Alps have been luring people to their slopes for decades, and some of the bigger resorts can be quite lively during peak winter months. Zermatt is very popular with skiers, snowboarders, and mountaineers who come for the allure of the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa mountains, the convivial car-free streets, and the happening apres ski bars, restaurants, and discos. Verbier is another top choice for travellers on a holiday to Switzerland ski resorts for its fun festivals and active after-dark scene.

Switzerland Ski Holidays

Sometimes you just need to get away from it all, and there are a few ski resorts in Switzerland that make for a peaceful escape. Grindelwald is a tranquil town that offers over 150 kilometres of ski trails in the winter, and over 300 kilometres of hiking paths in the summer. This is the ideal place to connect with nature and the magnificent landscape. For families, Saas Fee is a friendly mountain resort where you can ski almost all year round without the crowds of some of the larger resorts.

If you plan to do some day trips around the Alps, Wengen is the perfect base. This sunny village rests below the Eiger and Jungfrau mountains, and above the town of Lauterbrunnen. From here you can take train trips to the Jungfraujoch, where you can explore snowfields and frozen rivers, as well as the fascinating ice palace with its vast chambers and artistic sculptures. The Trummelbach Falls in Lauterbrunnen are another interesting sight, as the powerful waterfalls crash through the middle of the rock walls of a mountain.
