Holidays to Dalaman

Introduction

The Dalaman region of Turkey is an intoxicating mix of superlative beaches with soft sands and crystal clear waters, pine covered mountains, interesting historical sights, and exciting dining and nightlife. Travellers to Dalaman can take their pick from tranquil seaside resorts, lively party towns, and scenic bases where you can get out and explore all that this region along the southwestern coast has to offer.

What to see and do on a Holiday to Dalaman

Marmaris is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Dalaman region, and for good reason. This bustling seaside resort offers a picturesque old quarter with medieval architecture, a lovely long sandy beach, plenty of water sports, and a plethora of stylish restaurants and thumping nightclubs. This is the place to go for those looking for an action-packed holiday where the nights are just as eventful as the days.

Dalaman Holidays

If it’s natural beauty you’re looking for on your holiday to Dalaman, the small town of Dalyan is a memorable destination. The town is home to Iztuzu Beach, a protected area that supports a population of endangered loggerhead turtles, as well as many green turtles. The town was spared the onset of mass tourism when people from far and wide protested against plans to develop a luxury resort on the beach. Today, visitors can hike through the marshlands here, sunbathe on the beach and swim in the sea, and enjoy quiet evenings in the friendly town.

Travellers with a thirst for history and culture will want to check out the unique town of Fethiye. Here you can see the ruins of a Hellenistic theatre, as well as ancient Lycian tombs carved into the face of cliffs behind the town. Just a few kilometres away, the abandoned village of Kayakoy features old stone houses and churches scattered among the hills, and an eerie ghost town atmosphere. The site was once home to Greek speaking Anatolians who left in the 1920s after the Greco-Turkish war.
