Holidays to Hisaronu

Introduction

Hisaronu makes for a great alternative to some of the busier resorts on the southwestern coast of Turkey. The resort was once a sleepy hilltop village, but today it is a lively holiday destination with plenty of hotels, villas, restaurants, and bars to suit all tastes. If you are looking for a cooler alternative to a coastal resort that is still within a short drive to beautiful beaches, historic sites, and stunning natural beauty, Hisaronu is a great choice.

What to see and do on a Holiday to Hisaronu

One of the most beautiful beaches in Turkey lies just a five-minute drive from Hisaronu. Oludeniz is home to the famed Blue Lagoon, a protected natural area with eye-popping turquoise waters, lush green hills, and a gleaming strip of soft white sand. This is prime paragliding territory, as the views coming down from the top of Mount Babadag are absolutely stupendous. For the less daring, you can hire beach chairs on the sands here, swim in the crystal clear waters, and watch the para-gliders soar overhead.

Hisaronu Holidays

If history is your thing, the town of Fethiye makes for a fascinating day trip. The town rests on the site of the ancient city of Telmessos, and today you can still see many remnants of this time period. Look for the ancient sarcophagi lying on the grounds of buildings and even in the middle of the street in Fethiye. Just behind the town lie the impressive Lycian cave tombs, carved directly into steep cliffs.

Visitors on a holiday to Hisaronu should not miss out on a visit to the Saklikent Gorge. This large canyon is 18 kilometres long and 300 metres deep, and this is where fresh water from the Taurus mountains flows out to the sea. The water in the gorge is very cool and refreshing, so it is a great place to swim on hot days. There are also many cafes set up along the sides of the river, where you can sit back and take in the natural beauty of the site.
